Too Close for Comfort
According to a news source, an Irving man suffered a fractured vertebra and a sliced Achilles tendon after a car struck him in his own apartment. Irving police revealed the female driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes when pulling out of a parking spot at the apartment complex where the man resides. This mistake caused the woman to lose control and crash through the man’s wall, leaving him injured.
The man believes he was fortunate enough to come out of the accident with his life thanks to the fact he was playing a popular video game and sitting on a special “gaming” chair.
“The chair is what saved me, without a doubt,” he said. “It kept me from going under the car.”
The driver did not have insurance, which has left the man with the burden of having to pay for his medical bills. The man’s friends have begun an online fundraising campaign to help him get his life back on track. According to police, no charges will be filed against the woman.
